The RYAT Program
"Raising Youth Against Trafficking" is a pro-active program aimed at equipping students/parents/and teachers with the knowledge and tools necessary to understand and combat human trafficking. By adopting a unique "train the trainer" approach, we are cultivating a force of educated instructors who can, in turn, train others, effectively multiplying the reach and impact of our program.
The course content provides a comprehensive understanding of Human Trafficking through a 5 phase curriculum:
1. Human Trafficking Identification and Awareness
2. The threats and Tactics employed by Traffickers
3. Testimony from survivors
4. A detailed Digital Literacy / Social Media point of instruction
5. Education on thorough reporting procedures
Our target audience represents age groups that are often vulnerable to such exploitation. Through our program, we aim to empower these students with knowledge to protect themselves, their peers, and their communities.
A distinctive feature of our program is a student survey conducted at the end of the course. This survey encourages students to apply their newly acquired knowledge by reporting any previous/current/or future attempts to exploit them by online perpetrators. By doing so, we not only validate the practical applicability of our teachings, but also collect user-generated leads that can be instrumental in identifying and apprehending traffickers.
Our "train the trainer" model ensures the scalability and sustainability of the program. By creating a cascading effect of knowledge and awareness, we embed the program within communities, fostering a grassroots resistance against human trafficking. "Raising Youth Against Trafficking" is more than a program; it's a movement towards a safer future where our youth are not just potential victims, but informed, empowered defenders actively working against the scourge of human trafficking.
